Head Coach Shayne Lehman
Coach Lehman has worked in many capacities at Goldwater and in 2011 was selected to start a new program becoming the first Badminton Coach for the Bulldogs.
Lehman started playing badminton in college, working out with the university badminton team at ASU. Over the years he taught many students the game as a PE instructor and now attempts to bring that experience to athletes looking to learn a new sport. In 2013, after only two seasons, Coach Lehman’s Bulldog team slotted 16th position for the Division 1 state tournament. Recently, the Bulldogs ended their 2018 season in 7th place overall out of 32 in Division 2.
Coach Lehman is a retired Physical Education instructor at Goldwater, and has a background that includes 40 years in public education.
Coach Burke has taught many to play the game of Badminton, both as a physical educator, and as a badminton assistant coach. She has 28 years of public instruction with 26 of them at BGHS.
Coach Burke has been around athletes her entire career, involved in sports such as volleyball, cross country, track, and badminton. She will be working with new athletes just starting the sport, involved with basic skill instruction and proper technique.
She is also an assistant track coach.
